Two Hit in Atlanta Pedestrian Accident, One Dead

An Atlanta crash involving a delivery vehicle and two pedestrians occurred on November 26, 2010. Authorities say the accident took place on 10th Street around 10:30 p.m.

The two pedestrians had left a football game at Grady High School and were crossing 10th Street west of Monroe Drive when they were hit by a vehicle. The vehicle involved in this crash was a Zifty delivery car.

Both pedestrians were injured and taken to Grady Hospital for medical treatment. Pedestrian Ruby Young, an 82-year-old, was in serious condition and later died from her injuries. Philip Young, the other pedestrian and relative of Ruby Young, was in stable condition in the intensive care unit with injuries to his leg. He is from Fort Valley.

Atlanta police report that neither pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the accident occurred. The driver of the delivery car did not leave the scene. Police are investigating the crash and have not filed charges against the driver at this point.

The memorial service for Ruby Young was held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

We are saddened to hear of this tragic Atlanta pedestrian accident and wish the victims' family and friends our sympathies and condolences during this difficult time.
