Atlanta Accident Claims Life of Pedestrian

On July 22, 2011, a serious Atlanta pedestrian accident occurred on West Peachtree Street in Midtown, near 16th Street. Authorities said the fatal accident happened early Friday morning, around 3:30 a.m.

Atlanta police said that Charles Harbin, 42, of Sandy Springs, was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by a BMW and dragged for several feet down the roadway.
Police said that Harbin was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck by the car, as it appears that he was crossing from the MARTA station to an apartment complex across the street.

Atlanta police indicated that the BMW driver did not appear to be impaired and will not likely be charged for the fatal pedestrian accident.

Authorities closed down West Peachtree Street between 15th and 17th streets until 6:30 a.m. for cleanup and investigation.

The Kalka & Baer Firm would like to wish the family and friends of Charles Harbin all the best during this very difficult time.
