Can I collect an Insurance Settlement from a Bike Accident?

A cyclist in Carroll County was involved in a hit and run with a truck while traveling home from the Carrol County Sertoma Club one evening. The cyclist said he was taken by surprise when he was struck because there were no other vehicles traveling the road and he believed there was no way the driver could have missed seeing him. The cyclist was wearing a bright red back-pack and had a reflector on the back of his bike. The accident threw the over 250 pound man from his bike causing him to have a separated shoulder and other cuts and abrasions. The rear tire of his bike was also separated from the bicycle. Luckily the man was taken to the hospital, treated, and sent home without any major injuries.
