On November 15, 2011, a three-year-old girl was hit by a car while attempting to cross the street in metro Atlanta. This Atlanta pedestrian accident occurred on a DeKalb County street on Tuesday evening.
Atlanta police have indicated that the three-year-old toddler was crossing the street with her grandmother who was in a motorized wheelchair. According to authorities, the grandmother and child had been grocery shopping and were returning home to an apartment complex when they were hit.
The crash occurred on Covington Highway. According to Lelia Dennard, a woman who saw the little girl just moments before the crash, said she was hanging onto the back of her grandmother’s wheelchair. Then, just seconds later she heard a loud crash and knew that the young girl and her grandmother had been hit.
According to Atlanta authorities, the little girl died from her injuries and her grandmother was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. There is no word on the grandmother’s condition, and names of the involved parties have not been released to the media at this point.
