You Didn't Cause the Accident- Why Should You Be the One Paying the Price?

Whiplash, thoracic spine injury, concussion…all serious injuries that can be caused by a car accident. If you have been seriously injured in a Georgia truck or car accident due to someone else’s negligence, there is no reason for you to navigate the complex legal system alone. Whether the accident was in Marietta, Kennesaw, Johns Creek or metro Atlanta, the attorneys at Kalka & Baer are here for you every step of the way.

Here are two major news stories covering an Atlanta truck accident and a Marietta car crash that caught our attention.

SEMI TRUCK DRIVER IN DANGER
An Atlanta semi truck driver avoided a close call when he and another car were involved in an accident on West Marietta Street. The driver of the car ran into a fire hydrant and a telephone pole, knocking the pole across the street. Live telephone wires law strewn across the cab of the semi truck as the truck driver remained inside, according to the AJC.

The article continued to report that the truck driver was waiting for fire and police officers arriving on the scene to inform him that the power was turned off and therefore safe to exit his truck.

As reported- "He did the right thing," said Atlanta Fire Captain Bobby Ferrell, who said the downed wires could have proved lethal. "Never open the door and get out of your car when wires are down," he said. "Treat all downed wires as if they are live and energized."

It’s easy to forget that semi trucks, or tractor-trailers, can be the harmed vehicle in an Atlanta traffic accident. Truck drivers should take great caution inside of Atlanta city limits; with narrow streets and heavy traffic, accidents involving tractor-trailers can easily happen. As equally important, cars and motorcycles should take great caution driving alongside tractor-trailers.

MARIETTA CAR CRASH VICTIMS
Just over one year ago, Former Governor of Georgia Roy Barnes’ daughter and granddaughters were all seriously injured in a Marietta car accident. According to the AJC, a 17-year-old Cobb County resident was driving a Porsche Boxster and reportedly speeding when he lost control of his vehicle. The car crossed the center line of Old Mountain Rd. and struck the Barnes-Salter Honda Odyssey head on. The 17-year-old died from the injuries he sustained in the auto accident.

This story demonstrates that anyone can be seriously injured in a Marietta car accident- even those who have done absolutely nothing wrong. If you or a loved one has been involved in an auto accident in Cobb County, it is essential that you protect yourself.
