Atlanta GA 400 Accident New Years Eve- Debris on GA 400

Just after dark on New Year's Eve, there was an accident on GA 400 N. Not surprising for NYE, right? In this case, yes. The problem wasn't a drunk driver, but rather a truck and it's load. Some sort of debris, thought by police to be utility clamps or tools, fell off the back of the truck and littered the road. Several cars were able to escape danger, but one unlucky driver spent the holiday in the hospital thanks to the debris shattering the windshield and striking the driver's face and head.

The driver is expected to recover, but this is certainly not how this person wanted to begin the new year. The accident closed all northbound lanes of 400 N just past the toll booth for about two hours, affecting not only the victim, but also the thousands of people trying to drive through the already grueling Friday afternoon traffic.

The truck carrying the offending load has yet to be found, and who knows if the driver has any idea that he caused this horrific scene. If he does, shame on him for driving off. Regardless, shame on the people who loaded the truck and "secured" the items. GA 400 is Dangerous enough without carelessly and negligently loaded trucks adding another element of danger.
