Memorial Day weekend was a devastating holiday for Georgia motorists, as eighteen people were killed on roads throughout the state.
Eleven of the eighteen people killed over the holiday were involved in Atlanta car crashes and traffic collisions on metro Atlanta roads. According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, the fatal numbers were tracked from 6 p.m. Friday evening until midnight Monday night.
Sadly, innocent motorists were injured due to drunk drivers. For example, a family driving home from a day at the lake was hit by another car. The two adults and two children were all wearing their seatbelts, and the children's restraints were installed properly, ultimately saving their lives. They all were taken to area hospitals for medical treatment of their injuries.
Other tragic accidents across the state included fatalities. One such deadly crash involved an Atlanta motorcyclist who was rear-ended by an alleged drunk driver Monday night. The motorcyclist was thrown off his bike and killed when another car ran over him.
Memorial Day weekend traffic accidents occurred in Atlanta, Norcross, Dalton, Hinesville, Albany, Helena, Cobb County, Gwinnett County, Walton County, Coweta County, and other cities and counties throughout Georgia.
Some of these Georgia car accidents resulted in minor injuries, while other collisions were fatal, as in the case of the Atlanta motorcyclist.
Kalka & Baer would like to extend our condolences to the families and friends of all of the victims who died over the holiday weekend in Georgia crashes. Also, we would like to wish all of the injured victims a full and quick recovery.
