Atlanta Hit-and-Run Accident Leaves Future Groom Dead

In the early morning hours on Sunday, September 25, 2011, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian walking on Interstate 75/85 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive ramp.

According to police, this fatal Atlanta pedestrian accident occurred around 2 a.m. and claimed the life of 23-year-old Jacob Halbrooks, of Conyers.

According to his family, Halbrooks and his fiancée had a joint bachelor and bachelorette party, which was where Halbrooks was coming from.

It appears that Halbrooks had left and started walking along the highway when he was hit and killed. The driver fled the scene of the accident, and Atlanta police continue to search for the individual.

According to a witness, Halbrooks was struck by a four-door black car that was possibly a BMW or Mercedes. If you witnessed this accident, the Atlanta police would like to hear from you.
