A tragic accident in southwest Atlanta occurred on Interstate 285 southbound near Cascade Road on September 7, 2011. This early morning accident happened just before 5 a.m., claiming the life of a pedestrian.

Police do not know why the pedestrian was on the interstate, but they are investigating the accident. They believe he was trying to cross I-285, south of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The male pedestrian was in dark clothing and there was little visibility.

The man who hit the pedestrian told police that the individual walked out in front of him and that he didn't have time to stop. Mr. Natambu Gulston attempted to swerve, but still hit the pedestrian. Police do not expect to file charges against him.

The pedestrian's name has not been released at this time.

Police closed down several lanes of I-285 southbound. They reopened lanes around 6:45 a.m.

Another fatal Georgia accident occurred south of Atlanta on the same morning. State patrols investigated this crash around 7 a.m. at Langford Parkway.

Kalka & Baer is deeply saddened to hear of these deadly Atlanta accidents and would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of all who were affected by these tragic crashes.
