Saturday, August 20, 2011, was a fatal day in Cobb County for one motorcyclist. Police indicate that a motorcycle was hit by a car around 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 75. The driver of the car then took off.
Emanuel R. Mitchell, 31, of Norcross, was riding his black 1990 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle southbound on I-75 near Windy Hill Road when he was struck. Mitchell was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene.
A 23-year-old female driver from Atlanta told police that her Mazda 3 hit the motorcyclist after a silver Porsche initially hit him. The driver of the Porsche allegedly moved into Mitchell's lane, causing the deadly Cobb County crash.
Police investigators were able to find evidence at the accident scene about the make and model of the vehicle involved in this deadly hit-and-run. Cobb County police are currently looking for the driver of a gray or silver Porsche 944 between the model years of 1986 to 1991.
They are asking anyone with information about a Porsche coupe with damage to its left front to come forward and call the Cobb County police at 770-499-3987.
Kalka & Baer is deeply saddened to hear of this tragic Georgia crash and would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Emanuel R. Mitchell.
