Alcohol Could Be a Factor in a Marietta Pedestrian Accident

On Tuesday, March 27, 2012, a pedestrian accident in Marietta, Georgia, occurred when a man attempted to cross a street. According to authorities, a car hit a 21-year-old male pedestrian when he tried to cross Roswell Road Tuesday night.

Kevin Donelson, the pedestrian, was crossing Roswell Road near North Marietta Parkway when the crash occurred. Police indicated that the accident took place shortly before 10:45 p.m.

Kwon Young, 53, was the driver involved in this pedestrian accident. Police said that Young was driving a Hyundai Sonata southbound when he hit Kevin Donelson who was crossing the street. However, Donelson did not have the right-of-way while he was crossing the road.

According to the Marietta Police, they believe alcohol could be a factor in this crash, and they have charges pending against Donelson. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital that night where he was admitted in critical condition.

There have been many pedestrian accidents in this area within the last year, including:

  • A fatal accident on February 25, 2012, claimed the life of a 50-year-old male pedestrian crossing South Marietta Parkway.
  • A fatal crash on February 24, 2012 claimed the life of a 39-year-old female pedestrian crossing Austell Road south of Marietta.
  • A fatal pedestrian accident claimed the life of a 66-year-old male pedestrian crossing Atlanta Road in Smyrna.
  • A pedestrian accident on February 23, 2012 that was caused from a pedestrian crossing Powder Springs Road against the light.

Kalka & Baer would like to remind pedestrians to only cross the street when the signals allow and it is safe to do so. We also wish Mr. Donelson a full recovery following this accident.
