Thanks to the quick response time and astute actions from Morrow Police and Fire Department personnel, a pregnant woman is alive and recovering at Atlanta Medical Center after a horrendous accident left her vehicle in a mangled mess. The accident, which took place on Interstate 75 about 15 miles south of Atlanta, GA, occurred when the driver of the vehicle, Taneka Grace, unexpectedly flipped her Toyota near the Jonesboro exit. As her vehicle flipped over, it flew through the air, literally driving over another vehicle that was travelling on I-75, and landed on top of the nearby train tracks.
A Morrow Police lieutenant who witnessed the accident was able to immediately call for emergency personnel. Then, despite the fact that there was gas leaking from under her vehicle, first responders acted quickly to halt all trains in the area and remove Grace from the wreckage so she could be transported to a local trauma center. Although Grace remains in serious condition, police investigators were able to interview her as part of their investigation into the true cause of the accident.
