April 15, 2012, turned fatal for a resident of Cumming, Georgia. According to police, there were a couple fatal accidents in this area on Sunday, and one killed a 50-year-old man.

Husband and wife, Rick Michael Luter, 50, and Mary Jane Luter, 53, were traveling eastbound on Highway 369 near the intersection of Sexton Road in north Forsyth County when their collision occurred. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place around 4:05 p.m.

This Sunday afternoon collision claimed the life of Mr. Luter, of Whitmire Road, as he was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was injured and taken by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center for medical care. She has been treated and released at this time.

After initial investigations, it appeared that Ronnie George Pilcher, 36, of Gravitt Road, was driving westbound on Highway 369 when he lost control of his 1994 Chevrolet 1500 truck. When this happened, the car skidded across lanes, crossed the centerline and struck the Luter’s 2004 Ford F-250.

The crash caused the Luter’s truck to go out of control and down an embankment, flipping over before coming to a rest on its roof. When rescuers got to the vehicle, they found Mr. Luter deceased and his wife injured.

Pilcher’s truck came to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital to be examined. While he was there, he received a blood test. He has been charged with failure to maintain a lane and second degree vehicular homicide.

Police are still investigating this Forsyth County crash.
