Bryan Baer of Kalka & Baer, LLC is representing a man who has been hospitalized for four months and faces over $1million in hospital bills. He was catastrophically injured in an accident on May 9th when he was hit head-on by a 23-year old woman driving the wrong way. Attorney Baer uncovered that she hit his client while trying to flee the scene of another wreck just minutes prior. Originally, the woman was charged with Driving The Wrong Way On A One Way and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Registration Suspended. However, she has since been charged with Hit and Run after
The woman was actually in two accidents; the first in which she T-boned a car on Spring Street and then fled, striking Attorney Baer's client head on while travelling the wrong way on the Buford connector.
The woman was not charged with a hit and run initially until Bryan Baer began investigating the case. The victim was taken to Grady Hospital where he lay in a coma. He has since come out of his coma but is confined to a wheelchair and has lost feeling in his fingertips and down the side of one arm.
"I've lost my life," the victim said, "I've lost to date four months of income." In addition to suffering a traumatic brain injury, Kalka & Baer's client suffered two broken legs, third degree burns on his feet, broken ribs, and a broken pelvis among other injuries. Only recently did he have a feeding tube removed from his stomach.
"We'd really like to know more about what happened during the initial phase of the police investigation," reported Baer who was surprised to learn that the woman was not charged with hit and run that night. Her court date has been set for October.
