On December 14, 2010, an unexpected accident occurred involving a pickup truck, several cars, and a grocery store. This Georgia car crash happened on Tuesday morning in Douglasville, GA. Police say that the accident was caused by the driver of the pickup truck. They identified him as a male driver in his 50s or early 60s, but his name has not been released.
Douglasville police say that the crash occurred because the driver of the pickup truck was going straight on Highway 5. However, the road veered left and it appeared the driver continued driving straight. The pickup truck went over the curb and through the store parking lot, smashing parked cars along the way. It came to a rest after crashing into the Douglasville grocery store. The pickup truck collided with the side of the store, near the food preparation station.
Luckily, it doesn't appear that anyone else was involved or injured in this crash. Police believe that the driver of the pickup suffered from a health issue and passed out while driving. He was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and medical treatment.
The grocery store involved was Kroger Supermarket off Bill Arp Road. Douglas County officials believe that structural damage was done to the kitchen area of the grocery store.
We are glad to hear that no other injuries were reported, and we hope that the driver of the pickup makes a fast and complete recovery.
