Pedestrian and Driver Both Charged in Atlanta Accident

On Sunday, March 6, 2011, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in Atlanta. Police have said that the pedestrian and the driver both face charges in this pedestrian and car accident.

The crash occurred early Sunday morning, when a pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Buckhead Street in front of The Ivy restaurant. This Atlanta pedestrian accident occurred at 3717 Roswell Road around 12:32 a.m.

The driver who crashed into the pedestrian fled the scene. An off-duty officer witnessed the accident, and Atlanta police officers later found the pickup truck and arrested the driver, who was charged with drinking and driving. The truck was located in a parking lot across the street from the restaurant. It was reported that the car had significant front-end damage. Police have not released the driver's name at this time.

Atlanta police have indicated that the female pedestrian was jaywalking. She was charged for her failure to use a pedestrian crosswalk. Police have not released the Atlanta pedestrian's name or other information. Also, the extent of her injuries remains unknown at this time.
