For years there have been many auto accidents in Gainesville on the Clarks Bridge Road near Honeysuckle Road. Some of the accidents have been fender benders, but others have been deadly.
Residents in the area have seen multiple accidents on the stretch of road, and many that have even gone unreported. Just last week, a Ford pickup crashed on the same stretch of the road and wrecked in Bebe Garett’s front yard. According to Garett, she believes drivers go too fast and often misjudge the curve. She and others of her neighbors are hoping transportation officials do something about it.
Recently, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has decided to review the accidents that have occurred on Clarks Bridge Road. GDOT will look at the cause of each crash that occurred on that stretch of State Route 284 over the past year, as well as weather conditions, visibility, and the time of day each accident took place.
Teri Pope with GDOT does not know the total number of crashes that have occurred over the past year on this road, but she does know there were enough wrecks to raise a red flag and warrant a review of this stretch of road.
GDOT will compile accident reports from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and from the Georgia State Patrol. Once the accident reports are scrutinized, GDOT will know what type of action they will take, Ms. Pope said. Currently motorists are warned of a curve with yellow advisory signs and a lower speed limit.
The Kalka Law Firm would like to extend our condolences to all those who have lost a loved one due to crashes on Clarks Bridge Road.
