A mysterious car wreck and shooting occurred in Atlanta on I-285 during rush hour on Monday, November 22, 2010. Atlanta police continue to investigate this early morning crash and shooting to determine what exactly happened.

Police say the crash and shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. on the Westside Perimeter of I-285 southbound near Langford Parkway. Officials believe this crash was a road rage incident between two men.

A 911 phone call was placed to report a man in a silver Lexus shooting at a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Mikos Wright, the driver of the pickup truck, told police that he had observed the Lexus following him. He said that the Lexus pulled beside him in the emergency lane and started shooting at him. Wright told police that he struck the Lexus with his truck after the shooting occurred.

Bobby Smith, the driver of the silver Lexus, told police different details surrounding the Atlanta car wreck. He said that the Dodge Ram started merging into his lane and forced his car into the emergency lane. He said the driver of the pickup truck then rammed his Lexus into the guardrail, so he pulled out his gun and fired shots.

Fulton County Magistrate Roy Roberts set Mr. Smith's bond at $9,000 and placed a $10,000 bond for Mikos Wright, the driver of the Dodge Ram. No one was injured in this shootout. However, one person did complain of shoulder pain.

Atlanta police did find one bullet hole in the hood and three bullet holes in the passenger side door of the Dodge Ram. The three right lanes of the interstate were closed following this incident until 9:15 a.m., which caused the rush hour traffic to be heavier than usual.

Wright was charged with reckless driving and conduct. Smith was charged with reckless conduct, aggravated assault, following too closely, improper backing, and failure to maintain lane.
