On November 4, 2011, a deadly truck crash in Georgia occurred near the Cherokee-Bartow line. According to officials, the fatal accident happened around 3:15 PM on Knox Bridge Highway near Sutallee Baptist Church.

U-Turn in Front of Truck May Have Been Responsible
The accident involved a Saturn sedan and a tractor-trailer truck. Investigators indicated that it appeared the Saturn attempted to make a U-turn in front of the truck, causing the truck to strike the Saturn and send the vehicle off the road.

The two-vehicle accident caused serious injuries and one fatality. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims of this Knox Bridge Highway accident to include:

  • 23-year-old Barry Allen Freman, of Adairsville – he was the passenger in the back seat of the Saturn who was tragically killed.
  • 29-year-old Richard Bagley, of Cartersville – he was the driver of the Saturn who sustained injuries to his arm and was flown to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.
  • 37-year-old Matthew Wilcox, of Cartersville – he was the front seat passenger in the Saturn who sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Marietta hospital.
  • 33-year-old Brian Moore, of Jackson – he was the truck driver who was not injured in this crash.

Police are still investigating the cause of this accident, and no citations have been given at this time.

The Kalka Law Group would like to wish all those injured in this crash a full and speedy recovery and would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Barry Allen Freman.
