Marietta Car Crash Kills 1 and Sends 4 to the Hospital

On the evening of Saturday, July 14, 2012, a deadly car crash took place in Marietta that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man. The man, Jordan Irby, of Marietta, was driving a black 1999 Honda Accord at the time of the tragic accident.

According to Cobb County police, the wreck occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Powder Springs Road. Investigators noted that Irby was northbound on Powder Springs Road when he lost control of his car near Pamela Circle.

When Irby lost control of his vehicle, he drove into another lane of traffic, where he collided with a vehicle that was traveling south. According to police spokesman Mike Bowman, Irby crashed into a silver 2002 BMW X5.

Irby died at the accident scene from injuries he sustained in the two-vehicle collision. Irby’s pregnant girlfriend, 19-year-old Kandice Grace, of Marietta, was in the front seat of the

Honda. She was seriously injured and was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Grace’s unborn child did not survive the accident.

A second passenger in Irby’s car, 20-year-old Justin Grace, of Marietta, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment for non–life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW, Jesus Estrada-Hernandez, 41, of Marietta, was traveling with a juvenile passenger, whose name was not released. Both were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where they were treated for non–life-threatening injuries and released.

Police are still investigating the fatal crash to determine its cause.

Our Georgia accident attorneys at Kalka & Baer extend our heartfelt condolences to the Irby and Grace families and friends and hope that those who were injured in this crash recover quickly and completely.
