Alpharetta Accident Attorney Promotes Bicycle Safety for All Georgians

Although Atlanta and its sister cities are continually working on making Georgia streets safer for bicyclists, serious cycling accidents in Atlanta and throughout Georgia are still a reality. In fact, a fatal bicycle accident in one of Atlanta’s sister cities occurred not too long ago that claimed the life of 53-year-old Paul Taylor.

Although the accident details are unclear, we do know that Mr. Taylor took a bike ride before dawn and was hit by a pickup truck on North Decatur Road where it intersects with Willivee Lane. It appears that he may have been waiting in the left lane to turn left when he was hit and killed.

Stories like this shock everyone and make motorists and cyclists understand the dangers of cycling in traffic. This is one of the reasons why promoting bicycle safety is important: to save more bicyclists’ lives.

Cycling Safety

One bike-riding event was just held on June 16. Sponsored by Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong and at-large Councilman Aaron Watson, the event focused on Atlanta in-town cycling safety. The ride was an eight-mile round trip that started at 8 a.m. from Coan Park and Recreation Center and went through Edgewood, Kirkwood and Eastlake neighborhoods.

This cycling event—called Let’s Ride!—promoted cycling safety and focused on four different urban policy areas: Atlanta’s youth, green living, healthy communities, and sustainable revenue systems. Additionally, there are other bicycle events put on by bike advocacy groups throughout the year that promote safe cycling for all Georgians.

Our Alpharetta bicycle accident attorneys at Kalka & Baer would like to encourage all motorists and cyclists alike to share the road better to reduce fatal Georgia bicycle accidents. If you have been hurt, or if your loved one was killed in a Georgia bike crash caused by someone else’s negligence, please call us for a free consultation today.
