A fatal Atlanta car accident on Peachtree Street occurred early on the morning of June 27, 2012. Atlanta police indicated that the crash took place around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the corner of Peachtree and Upper Alabama streets.

A former men’s soccer team player of Georgia State University was behind the wheel of the car when he crashed into an Underground Atlanta ice cream parlor. Sadly, Timothy Nixon, 21, the driver, was killed in this crash. Police said that he lost control of his car around a curve and crashed through the Haagen-Dazs storefront.

Atlanta police said that the car jumped a curb, left the roadway, and struck two large planters before crashing into the ice cream store. The vehicle came to rest on its side, and the driver was trapped inside his car. Emergency crews had to extricate the driver and transport him to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical care; however, Nixon later died from his injuries.

A spokesman for Georgia State’s men’s soccer team did confirm that Nixon was on the 2011-2012 team, and he played the position of a midfielder. Nixon was a finance major and was scheduled to graduate this fall.

Del Amin, the owner of the ice cream store of 14 years said, “Virtually all the equipment is gone, all the glasswork is shattered.” Additionally, the building suffered structural damage, which will require repairs to the electrical system and plumbing.

Our Atlanta accident attorneys at The Kalka Law Group extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Timothy Nixon.
