Campbellton Tractor-Trailer Crash Warns Georgia Drivers of Roadway Dangers

Atlanta Injury Blog > 2012 > March > Campbellton Tractor-Trailer Crash Warns Georgia Drivers of Roadway Dangers

A recent Campbellton traffic accident left one Atlanta woman dead and two other people badly injured. The accident happened on Camp Creek Parkway near Campbellton Road, according to WSBTV.com. The crash was apparently caused by a teenage girl who lost control of her car, hitting another car and sending the car into oncoming traffic. The other car was then struck by a tractor-trailer. The driver, a middle school teacher, died, and the two passengers were taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The teenage driver has been charged with driving with a restricted license, suspended registration and failure to maintain a lane. The driver’s mother is also being charged in connection to allowing her daughter to drive without a licensed adult in the passenger seat. The police investigators are now working to recreate the accident scene to understand more about how the crash happened.

The average tractor-trailer can weigh approximately 25 times more than the average car. Simply due to the size alone, a tractor-trailer can easily cause serious injuries and/or fatalities in a motor vehicle crash. In Georgia, there are high numbers of trucking accidents. Our Georgia truck accident lawyers know the dangers associated with driving on the roads with tractor-trailers.

Here are some helpful suggestions designed to keep drivers safe on Georgia roadways.

  • Avoid blind spots- the large size of a truck reduces the driver’s visibility of other cars, trucks and motorcycles
  • Prepare for tire blowouts- keep a good distance between you and a truck in case it has a tire blowout
  • Signal far in advance before turning- make use of a turn signal well in advance or turning or changing lanes, trucks take longer to slow down when braking
  • Drive carefully in inclement weather- a dangerous effect on any vehicle, bad weather reduces visibility and navigation

By practicing safe and defensive driving habits, you might be able to reduce your risk of being involved in a Georgia tractor-trailer crash.
