Alpharetta Motorcycle Lawyer Discusses Dangerous Intersections

Motorcycle crashes occur on highways, interstates, surface streets, residential streets or anywhere a motorcycle is allowed to travel. However, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the majority of motorcycle accidents in the metro Atlanta area occur at intersections.

Because intersections pose a danger to motorcyclists in Alpharetta, Cumming, Canton, and in the metro Atlanta area, our Alpharetta motorcycle accident lawyers would like to review the most dangerous intersections in Fulton County and DeKalb Counties.

Allstate Insurance worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation to identify the most dangerous intersections for motorcyclists. What they found is shocking, and if you are a motorcyclist traveling near the intersection of 14th Street and Peachtree Street in Atlanta, you will want to know about the eight most dangerous intersections in Georgia. They include:

  1. 14th Street and Peachtree Street: 7 of 18 fatal motorcycle crashes in Fulton County occurred at this intersection
  2. Barge Road and Campbelltown Roads
  3. Camp Creek Parkway and Welcome All Road
  4. 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue
  5. Bolton Road and Marietta Road
  6. Buford Highway and Peachtree Street
  7. Delmar Lane and Delmoor Court
  8. Donald Lee Hallowell Parkway and Eugenia Avenue

The research indicated that the majority of these fatal motorcycle accidents in Fulton County occurred in August, on Saturday between 5 and 7 p.m.

After these intersections were identified in 2009 as the most dangerous for motorcyclists, the Georgia Department of Transportation made an effort to post yellow diamond-shaped signs in these areas in 2011 to bring more awareness for motorcycle and car drivers alike.
