Attorney Baer's Published Work is Featured Story in The Verdict Magazine

Attorney Bryan Baer's recent article titled, "London Calling: Navigating the Waters When Taking a Deposition Overseas," was the featured story for the Fall 2015 edition of The Verdict Magazine. In the article he talks about how complicated it can be to obtain a deposition from a witness overseas. While it may seem like it should be a simple process, abiding by both Georgia State laws and international law can be quite complex.

There are three different options that Attorney Baer lays out in the magazine article that will allow the witnesses' deposition to comply with both the Georgia Civil Practices Act and laws of foreign countries.

The options are as follows:

  1. Have All Parties Stipulate to Waive the Literal Requirements of O.C.G.A. § 9-11-28(B).
  2. Have an Agent at the U.S. Embassy Issue the Oath.
  3. Have Letters Rogatory Issued.

For more detailed information about these different plans, check out the article here.
