What is Georgia State law regarding bicycle lights?
Know Your Rights. Know the Law.
Bicycle lights are required to protect bicyclists. When other motorists
are not able to see bicyclists on the road, unnecessary bicycle accidents
in Georgia can occur. These incidents could result in serious injuries
or loss of life. Proper lighting and reflectors are required under Georgia
law. Bicyclists need to have a white light on the front of the bike that
is visible from 300 feet away when riding at night. Additionally, cyclists
are required to have a red reflector or red light mounted to the rear
of the bike that is also visible from 300 feet away. Pedals need to have
reflectors that are visible from 200 feet away, both on the front and
rear of the pedals.
